We're looking for a mid-level designer to join a Melbourne-based studio. This is a solid next step for someone who's been working under senior guidance and is ready to take on more — not a dramatic leap, just a natural progression.

The role

You'll work alongside seniors on more complex projects while running smaller jobs independently with documenter support. Day to day, that means contributing meaningfully to design development, managing your own workload across a project, and starting to build direct relationships with clients. You'll have a real reporting line into the Head of Design and enough room to develop your own approach, without being left without support when you need it.

The Melbourne project mix is predominantly commercial interiors across spec fit-outs, lift lobby upgrades and end-of-trip facilities, alongside tenant fit-outs across a range of sectors. There's also an exciting heritage retrofit work in the mix. It's a varied load with consistent volume.

What we're looking for

You're comfortable across Revit, InDesign, and Enscape. Technically, you're in a good place. Where you're still growing is the softer stuff: client communication, running a room, making calls independently. You don't need to have that fully sorted, but you should be actively working on it and open to learning.

Attitude matters here as much as technical ability. Curiosity, a genuine appetite to learn, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment are weighted just as heavily as what's on your CV. The technical craft is teachable; the mindset isn't.

D&C exposure is useful background if you have it, but we're not treating it as a filter.

How the team works

The first three months are fully in-office. It's how the studio brings people in, builds trust, and makes sure you actually absorb how things work before settling into a rhythm. After that, the expectation is three days per week in-office (with the rest from home) providing genuine flexibility around personal commitments.
